An ultrasound exam - also known as a “sonogram”- is a way to take a picture of your internal organs without using X-rays. Ultrasound uses harmless sound waves that are directed at organs in the body. The sound waves are turned into a picture (or “image”) on a monitor, much like a computer screen. The sound waves used in ultrasound exams have been safely used for many years. The pregnancy ultrasound is a test done on the pregnant woman’s body to check the growth of the fetus. A pregnant woman undergoes various ultrasounds during the different trimesters of pregnancy. Pregnancy Ultrasound NT/NB Scan is also known as Nuchal Translucency Scan. It is done in the 11th to 14th month of the pregnancy. In this period, the baby’s size should be anywhere between 45mm and 84mm. During the second trimester of pregnancy, an ultrasound level 1 or growth Scan is done. This is not a very detailed ultrasound and takes a few minutes to complete. This scan helps to find out the proper growth of the embryo in the uterus.
